He contributed to the West Asia & North Africa Division in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

Dr Kumar completed his PhD at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, and briefly assumed the Scientist role before embracing the Indian Foreign Service in 2009.

Proficient in English, Hindi, Maithili, and Arabic, his linguistic versatility is commendable. Beyond his diplomatic pursuits, his interests extend to travel, literature, and horticulture. Dr. Kumar is happily married to Mona, and they are blessed with two daughters.
